Report on 1st national Conference on Metallurgy and Materials

Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, organized a one day mega event “1st National conference on Metallurgy and Materials (NCMM-15)” on March 25, 2015 at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro. It was not only an event, occasion or a day it was an enormous package of technical learning at national ground. It was a legendary meeting where students across the length and breadth of Pakistan had meet up, compete and learn from each other. This event was sponsored by Pakistan Science Foundation, Pakistan Steel Mills Karachi, Agha Steel Industries Karachi, and Bolan Casting Ltd, Pakistan.

 

The 1st National conference on Metallurgy and Materials (NCMM-15) commenced with the recitation from Holy Quran by Mr. Talha, followed by the opening ceremony. After the Welcome address by Prof Dr. M. Moazam Baloch, Chairman Department of Metallurgy and Materials, The Chief Guest Major Gen. Retired Zaheer Ahmed Khan, C.E.O Pakistan Steel Mills Karachi, graced the occasion by expressing his views regarding the importance of research and challenges and milestones achieved in PSM.  Mr. Sirajuddin Khan, C.E.O Bolon Casting Ltd, addressed the participants and emphasized on the morality of education, research and patent writing. Prof. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi, Vice Chancellor of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology in his talk briefed the history of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials

  

  

Engineering MUET, since he remained one of the pioneer of the institute. He also shared the academic and managerial experience. Prof. Dr. M. Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor MUET Jamshoro, shared the milestones achieved by MUET in recent history due to which MUET is ranked 2nd in public universities of Pakistan. The future strategy to bring MUET in top ten universities worldwide was also the key point of his speech. 

Then, the traditional gift and shields were presented by the Worthy Vice Chancellor MUET Jamshoro to the honorable chief guest Major Gen. Retired Zaheer Ahmed Khan, Mr. Sirajudin Khan and Representative from C.E.O Agha Steel Industries. Gifts to guest of honor and special guests were also presented by Prof. Dr. Moazam Baloch. The opening ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Dean Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman Memon.  

  

After high tea, two parallel technical sessions of “Advance Materials” and “Process Metallurgy” were started. In each session ten papers were presented by researchers and industrials experts from different institutions.

  

The lunch was served at the end of Technical Session.

The shields were presented among different authors of research paper in closing ceremony.
