Mehran University of Engineering and Technology was established on 1st, March 1977, by upgrading the Engineering College originally established in 1963. The University started postgraduate programme through the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies in December 1978 in different fields of engineering. Currently the following programs are being offered:

• Chemical Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Materials Science & Technology
• Industrial Engineering & Management
• Textile Engineering
• Mining Engineering
• Construction Management

The other postgraduate Programs are offered in the fields of Irrigation Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, which are running under the Institute of Irrigation & Drainage Engineering, Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management, and the Institute Of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering respectively.

The Directorate and the Institutes are situated inside the University Campus at Jamshoro, which is located 14 KM west of Hyderabad city off Hyderabad-Karachi Super Highway.
