Department of Electronic Engineering and IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society MUET Chapter organized Inter-Departmental Engineering eXhibition (IEX-2021)

Department of Electronic Engineering and IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society MUET Chapter organized Inter-Departmental Engineering eXhibition (IEX-2021) on 8th December at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, Pakistan. In the exhibition, three different competitions were organized named as Project Exhibition and Robotic Contest, Research Poster Competition, and Logo Design Competition. Total 105 students participated including (18 IEEE-IMS Members  and 85 Non-IEEE Members) from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Isra University Hyderabad, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science and Technology Nawabshah and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTSD) Khairpur Mirs. The Inauguration Ceremony of IEX-21 was held at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmed Memon, Meritorious Professor Department of Telecommunication Engineering were the Chief Guest of the Inauguration Ceremony. Prof. Dr. Arbab Night Chairperson, Department of Electronic Engineering, Engr. Kamran Kazi, Convener Event Management Committee, Engr. Bharat Lal Advisor, IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society MUET Chapter, Engr. Azam Rafique, Instrumentation Engineer, Engr. Shoaib Hassan, Instrumentation Engineer, and Faculty members  also joined the inauguration ceremony.

After the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, respected chief guests visited the Project Exhibition and Research poster exhibition where the students presented their projects and research ideas to the chief guests. Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali highly appreciated the efforts of participants to represent their ideas and projects at the national level, he especially appreciated the efforts of first-year students (21 batch) for their efforts and dedications and he also announced the special appreciation award (5000 PKR Cash) for first-year students.

Six judges were selected from different fields (three for project competitions and three for research poster competition) who evaluated the Projects and research posters. However, the evaluation of the logo design competition was done by all faculty members of the department of electronic engineering. After completion of evaluation all the participants, judges, faculty members, coordinators were moved towards Main Auditorium for the concluding ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice-Chancellor, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Unar, Dean Faculty of Electrical Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering, Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhary, Professor Emeritus,  were the chief guest of the concluding ceremony of IEX-2021. The Concluding ceremony was hosted by Engr. Bharat Lal, Advisor IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society MUET Chapter and thanked all the respected Chief Guests, Faculty members, coordinators, and participants for joining the concluding ceremony of IEX-2021. In the conclusion ceremony, the success stories of IEEE-IMS, personal and professional grooming of students through many seminars and workshops was shared. He expressed gratitude to Chairperson Electronic Engineering Prof. Dr. Arbab Nighat, Convener Event Management Committee Engr. Kamran Kazi, Coordinator, Engr. Azam Rafique and the volunteers for their continuous day and night efforts to make this event successful.

 

Prof. Dr. Arbab Nighat delivered the welcome speech and she welcomed all the respected chief guests, faculty members, and participants. Further, she appreciated the efforts of team members of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and the Event Management Committee for organizing such a national-level exhibition.

Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Unar, Dean Faculty of Electrical Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering shared the remarks about this event and he said that this type of exhibition motivates the students in developing their skills and boost their confidence and he also appreciated the efforts of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and department of electronic engineering for organizing such a great event.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice-Chancellor, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology congratulated the Team IEEE-IMS and Department of Electronic Engineering for the successfully organized event at the national level and efforts of all appreciated who present their projects and research ideas.

 

 

Followed by speeches the cash prizes and awards were distributed to the winners and runners of the competitions. The First Position in the Project Competition was won by Mr. Ahsan Junejo, Mr, Hafeez Halepoto, Ms. Laraib Memon from Isra University Hyderabad Campus with the project title Emergency Portable Ventilator (with BPM & ECG) and they received Cheque of 20000 PKR, Shield and Certificate of Appreciation.

 

The Second Position in the Project Competition was won by Nabi Bukhsh from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTSD) Khairpur Mirs with the project title RC Plane and they received a Cheque of 15000 PKR, Shield and Certificate of Appreciation.

The Third Position in the Project Competition was won by Areesha Irfan,  Eeman Arain, Ahmed Khalil from Mechatronic Engineering Department, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology with the project title Gesture Control Robotic Arm With Force Feedback and they received a Cheque of 10000 PKR, Shield and Certificate of Appreciation.

First Position in the Research Poster Competition won by Sumiya (18ES10), an Imran Ahmed (18ES22) from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and they received 3000 Cash Prize, Shield, and Certificate of Appreciation. Second Position in the Research Poster Competition won by Zoha Wakeel (18ES101), Zohaib Gulzar (18ES30) from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and they received 2000 Cash Prize, Shield, and Certificate of Appreciation. Special Appreciation award of 5000 PKR cash from Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali goes to First Year students Harsh Jagdesh (21CS023), Muhammad Hassan (21ES019), Abdul Sammad (21ES045).

Winner award of 2000 PKR Cash, Shield, and Certificate of Appreciation goes to Ms. Ayesha Atta (20ES017) for designing the logo for the department of electronic engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.

  

After awarding distribution to the winners and runners of the competition the shield and certificate of appreciation also presented to the event judges and coordinators in recognization of evaluation of competitions and organizing Inter-Departmental Engineering Exhibition.

 

Last but not the least, concluding ceremony ended up with the vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhary, Chair IEEE Karachi Section, he congratulated all winners of the competition and thanked to all participates of the event and he also thanked all the respected Chief Guests for their time to join the inauguration and concluding ceremony.
