Department of Electronic Engineering MUET organized "Ingredients and Recipe of Project Thesis webinar" by Dr. Shoaib Rehman Soomro

A webinar on “Ingredients and Recipe of Project Thesis webinar” was organized by the Department of Electronic Engineering Final Year Project Committee on 13^th April 2021 using MS Teams platform for the students of 17ES to make them aware about the important points when presenting their thesis. The resource person of the webinar was Dr. Shoaib Rehman Soomro (Assistant Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering & Member ES-FYPC). The event was managed by the coordination of the departmental FYP and Event Management Committees.

Dr. Attiya Baqai (Convener ES-FYPC) started the webinar by welcoming the Chairperson, all the final year students, faculty members, supervisors/ co-supervisors as well as the presenter. Dr. Soomro then began with the key elements of FYP presentation. He explained by dividing the talk into two halves; one covering power point presentation delivered during initial, progressive, and final seminars and the other covering the thesis. He emphasized that a presentation should include project idea/ aims and objectives, literature review, methodology, implementation, and progress of the project with the combination of proper reference citations along with the template (prepared by ES-FYPC) for the students; encompassing CLO wise linking. He also discussed the contents, do’s & don’ts of the presentation and length for each CLO slide defined for Electronic Engineering Department. In the second half of the talk Dr. Soomro conversed basic ingredients of thesis writing. Furthermore, he discoursed the MS-word’s formatting styles that were specifically made in the Thesis Word Template by FYPC-ES to match with the MUET Thesis guideline along with important chapter wise content distribution. After the two main halves of the talk by Dr. Shoaib Soomro; Dr. Baqai also added and informed the students about the progressive proforma and other resources for their FYP available on webpage https://www.muet.edu.pk/departments/electronics-engineering/thesis-projects.

At the end, the house was opened for Question-and-Answer session. The students also showed keen participation in this session. For the concluding remarks Dr. Baqai invited the Chairperson Prof. Dr. Arbab Nighat. Dr. Nighat appreciated the efforts of the resource person Dr. Shoaib Soomro, the coordinators for the webinar Engr. Khuhed Memom, Engr. Shoaib Hassan Khaskheli and the Final Year Project Committee for the arrangement and conduct of this webinar. She also thanked students for participating with keen interest. She discussed the need of such webinar pointing the mistakes that students usually make while presenting their thesis and expressed her hope for the better quality in their upcoming FYP viva/ presentation and thesis.
