Highlights of 2nd national conference on metallurgy and materials

2^nd national conference on metallurgy and materials has been successfully organized by Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. This conference was honoured by Prof. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi, Worthy Vice Chancellor Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi as Chief Guest. Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uquaili,  Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Abdul Rehman Memon, Prof. Dr. Hafeez Ur Rehman Memon (Dean Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry (Dean of Electrical and Electronics),  were also present in this conference.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Moazam Baloch and Prof. Dr. Mohammad. Ishaque Abro were Conference Chairman and Conference secretary respectively. The key note speakers were Dr. Ghazanfar Abbas, Assistant Professor COMSAT Institute of Information Technology, Lahore and Mr. Syed Abid Raza, Senior Manager Quality Assurance and head HSE Department, The General Tyres and Rubber Company of Pakistan, Karachi. Mr. Mohsin Ali Khan, Director Gulf Minerals was invited as a guest of Honour in the conference.

Book titled “Telescoping Al-Quran for Applications in Engineering” by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Abdul Rehman Memon was also launched in the opening ceremony of the conference. In this conference above eighty (80) research papers were submitted for oral presentation. Among those Thirty three (33) were selected for three different technical sessions. These papers covered the research areas related to metal processing, polymer and composite engineering, surface engineering, mineral processing and nano materials engineering. It is anticipated that research work presented in the conference will contribute to solve the national issues and will be help full for the industrial sector. Among these presented papers about fifteen papers are to be selected (15) for the publication in special edition of Mehran University research journal of engineering and technology (HEC recognized X-category journal).

Pakistan Science Foundation, Administration of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro and Mehranian Materials Advantage Chapter were acknowledged for their support.
