International Women's Day and Launching Ceremony of Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Mehran University of Engineering & Technology celebrated International Women's Day and launched the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Ms Malala Yousufzai congratulated the University on this event and motivated the students to pursue education and excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili highlighted the importance of female education and their contribution to society.
Dr Khadija Qureshi, president SWE-Sindh discussed the need for promoting women in engineering.
Dr Zulfiqar Ali Umrani, Manager Innovation & Entrepreneurship, informed about the 2016 theme on Gender Equality by 2030.
Ms Shabnam Baloch talked about the Mehran University’s Gender Policy.
Ms Rosy Ilyas and Ms Mumtaz Munshi received life-time achievement awards for their services to the university.
International Speakers, Dr Neleen Leslie (USA), Engr Soumiya Noor (Morocco), Engr Sariyya Haidarova (Azerbaijan), Ms Svetlana Tataru (Moldova) and Ms Iuliana Mamaliga joined the event via video conferencing.
