Noteworthy Achievement of MUETians in 27th IEEEP All Pakistan Students' Seminar, 2012

The 27th IEEEP All Pakistan Student Seminar held on 28th February, 2012, organized by IEEEP in collaboration with Hamdard University, Karachi emerged to be the event of novelty and thoughts in the field of Engineering. Cluster of Talented Students came from different Universities across Pakistan presented their research papers and also remained the source of inspiration for other students to portray their aptitude and intellectuals.

Continuing the practice of uphill struggle and passion to win, students of MUET again succeeded in showing their devotion towards Research in Engineering and Science. They recognized themselves by winning 2nd position in the competition of IEEEP Students’ Seminar.

The author and participant students from BM, ESE and CS department of MUET attended the seminar. The Dean Faculty of Electrical, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry accompanied MUET students and also chaired a Technical Session of Students’ Seminar. Technical papers were received from different universities like MUET, Punjab University Lahore, SSUET, Hamdard University, Usman Institute of Technology, Pakistan Navy Engineering College and many others.

After meticulous scrutiny, Seminar Authorities short listed only 15 research papers from all over Pakistan, among which MUET students avowed two research papers.  One paper was presented by undergraduate students of Computer System Engineering and another paper was presented by a postgraduate student of Electronic System Engineering & an undergraduate student from Bio-Medical Engineering. At the end of seminar, IEEEP announced results and honored 6 POSITIONS among these15 papers.

2nd POSITION, Gold Medals, 14,000 /Rs cash prize and certificates were won by Engr. Sanober Farheen Memon (B11 ME ESE 50) and Shah Faisal (08BM26) from the Department of Electronics System Engineering and Bio-Medical Engineering, MUET. Their paper was entitled as “Electronic based Visual Aid for Blinds (e-VAB)” under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry, Dean Faculty of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering.

The event was eagerly covered by local and national print/electronic media such as the Engineering Review Magazine, the Business Recorders, the Media partners, Radio partners, and the Nation & PC world as technical media partners. The Technical Convener of Seminar, Engr. Parkash Lohana, distributed the appreciation certificates among the participants of the seminar.

The winning participants along with their supervisors were invited to attend IEEEP Multi topic Symposium held on 14th and 15th March, 2012 at PC Hotel in Karachi, where they were awarded Cash prizes, Gold and silver medals, shields and certificates from the chief guest Ms. Shazia Atta Mari, the Provincial Minister for Information and Electric Power. The Winning Participants of MUET were accompanied by the faculty members of Electronic Engineering Department, Madam Saba Baloch and Madam Yasmeen Naz Panhwar.
