One Day Seminar & One Week Training on GSM Networks & Transmission System; Satellite & Fibre Optic Communication

Institute of Information & Communication Technologies (IICT), in collaboration with APEX Multi Services Karachi (A Telecom service provider), organized a 1 day seminar on GSM Networks & Transmission System; Satellite & Fibre Optic Communication, for students of MUET, along with live broadcast to 25 other universities from all over Pakistan (held on 21st September 2010).
The seminar was followed by a 5 days training session (commencement 4th October 2010) with practical demonstrations of various equipment, along with hands on practice by every student. The seminar and training were held at the Video Conferencing Hall, IICT.
The organizing committee included Engr. Muhammad Ali Shah, OI/C Video Conferencing Hall, IICT, Engr. Nasrullah Pirzada, Lecturer, Department of Telecommunication Engineering, Engr. Khuhed Memon, Lecturer, Department of Electronic & Bio-Medical Engineering, Mr. Abdul Azeem, Manager Operations, APEX Multi Services & Mr. Muhammad Fahad khan, Manager Business Development, APEX Multi Services. The trainer for this event was Mr. Muhammad Imran Ahmad, BSS & Transmission Engineer, Telenor.
The session was inaugurated with the welcome addresses of Dr. Aftab Memon, Chairman Department of Telecommunication Engineering and Dr. BS Chowdhry, Chairman Department of Electronic & Bio-Medical Engineering, Director IICT. In their welcome speech, Dr. Aftab Memon & Dr. BS Chowdhry emphasized upon the importance of conceptual and practical knowledge of GSM Technology & Satellite Communication in this age of rapidly advancing communication technologies.
In the training sessions, students were provided detailed demonstrations on the equipment along with hands-on training for all the participants. A live video feed of the entire seminar and training sessions were broadcasted to 25 Universities from all over Pakistan.
Dr. AK Baloch concluded the training sessions with his encouraging remarks to the students and organizing committee and provided certificates to all the participants.
