A report on seminar titled Writing a Master Thesis: The Guidelines for Students

A seminar titled “Writing a Master Thesis: The Guidelines for Students” was organized by Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT) on 5th September, 2024 for Postgraduate students. The resource person was Director, IICT. The seminar aimed to provide master's students with a comprehensive guide on how to approach, structure, and write their master’s thesis effectively. The seminar covered essential aspects such as topic selection, research methodology, thesis structure, writing techniques, plagiarism policy and time management. The main objective of conducting the seminar is to give the guidance on topic selection, format of thesis, on effective writing techniques and citation styles. The guidance was also given on structural components of a thesis, including introduction, literature review, methodology, results, and conclusion.
The seminar concluded by encouraging students to start early, maintain regular communication with their supervisors, and stay organized throughout the process. Attendees left with a clear understanding of how to start thesis-writing process, from topic selection to final submission. Finally, a Q&A session was held to address students' questions regarding thesis writing.
Overall, the seminar was well-received, informative and providing valuable insights into the academic aspects of writing a master’s thesis.
