The department of Textile Engineering aims to provide a quality education to produce professionals with adequate knowledge, skills and attitude for successful career.
About The Department
Development and production of textiles, particularly cotton based textiles, has been important industry of Pakistan since the foundation of Pakistan. This industry expanded considerably during the 60’s and 70’s; however, it became fairly stagnant due to lack of competitive edge over other countries such as South Korea, Thailand and China. This loss could be partly attributed to the lack of adequately trained manpower available in the country who could properly study the situation and incorporate ways and means to improve the product and guaranteed quality. Keeping this need in view, the Department of Textile Engineering was established in 1993. The aim was to provide education as per international standards, providing qualified graduates who could contribute towards the development and modernization of Textile Industry of the country.
- First textile engineering institute recognised by Pakistan Engineering Council.
- First textile engineering and technology institution in Sindh province.
- Second textile engineering and technology institution established in Pakistan after National Textile University formerly known as National College of Textile Engineering, Faisalabad.
- The department produced the first Ph.D. in Textile Engineering in Pakistan.
- Second textile engineering institution in Pakistan that started M.E. Textile Engineering program
